When you make a post on your Tumblr blog, people can reply to it and leave comments. But, before that happens, you have to enable replying!
1. First, go to your dashboard at www.tumblr.com. You have to be logged in, of course.
2. Then, click on the gear symbol. This symbol should lead you to a page that says “Account”. You can also get to this page by going to www.tumblr.com/settings.
3. All of your blogs are listed in a column on the left side of this page. Find the blog that you want to enable replies for, and click on it.
Now, you should be at a page where you can customize your URL, submissions, queue, language, etc. Most importantly, this is where you can change your reply settings! :p You can also get to this page by going to www.tumblr.com/blog/YOURBLOGNAMEHERE/settings.
4. Find the section called “Replies”; it should be right at the top. You only have two options; you can let people you follow reply to your posts, people who have been following your blog for two weeks or more reply to your posts, or both! Check the boxes next to what you would like, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Save” button.
The thing is, the option that lets you allow people you follow to reply to your posts isn’t available for second blogs/side blogs.
But, one thing you can do that works for all blogs is you can let people answer your post, which is a bit different. Anybody can answer your post if you have this set up, even if they’re not following you. One person can only answer a post one time, and they can’t do it on anonymous. If you want to do this, just end the title of your post in a question mark or end your post with a question mark. If you do one of these things, the option to allow people to answer you post should show up. Click here to see a post on another blog showing how it works!
